Concordat between the Sacrum Romanorum Imperium Nationis Germanicae and the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church

Preamble

By this Concordat, the SRING and the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church recognize and establish their mutual link as it follows:

the Sacrum Romanorum Imperium Nationis Germanicae recognizes the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church as the sole basis of the spiritual, religious and moral life of the Empire and of its inhabitants

the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church recognizes the SRING as Aristotelian Empire based upon the Aristotelian Virtues for the exercise of its power.

This Concordat can be annulled if both parties agree or by only one side if the other one fails to fulfill its duties established by this Concordat
This Concordat can not be changed until both parties agree, whatever changes take place in the Empire or the Church. However this Concordat can be changed or altered upon approval by both parties, except for the six articles of Part I, that are not changeable.

PART I

I.1. The Emperor of the SRING recognizes his power as a gift by the Almighty. In this resides the holy character of the Empire, and this drives to respect and collaboration with the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church, that is the sole guardian of the truth.

I.2. For this reason, the Emperor, the Empress, the members of the Imperial Family and the Imperial Nobles must be baptized and know about the Aristotelian Religion. If they are not, they will be baptized as soon as possible, and before the ceremony of enthronement.

I.3. The Emperor will be blessed and enthroned by a high member of the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church in Strasbourg Cathedral and he will swore to be an Aristotelian faithful and "Defensor Fidei".

I.4. The Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church will grant religious, moral and spiritual education to the members of the Imperial Family, standing side by side with the Emperor in his mission, for the good of the Empire inhabitants.

I.5. The Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church and the Emperor agree that the government of the Empire must be based upon Justice, Peace, Temperance and the other Aristotelian Virtues as they are taught by the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church.

I.6. The Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church will accept help, sustain and defense by the Emperor as "Defensor Fidei" when it will be necessary.
The holy Aristotelian and Universal Church, according to Canon Law, will offer help and sustain towards the Emperor when it will be necessary.

PART II

The role of the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church in the spiritual life of the SRING

II.1.By this Concordat is established that in the whole SRING only the members of the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church and of its institutions are granted the free practice in the religious, pastoral, diplomatic, legal and military fields related to the Church, without any obstacle or secular impositions. The religious institutions recognized by the SRING are: every hierarchical religious subdivision of the territories with its charges, the Church Diplomacy, the Holy Inquisition and the Church Tribunals, the Holy Armies and the Episcopal Guards, the Military-Religious Orders recognized by the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church. Special rules about the relations between the SRING and those institutions are established in other parts of this Concordat.

II.2. The Emperor and the Imperial institutions will not recognize nor help any other religious figure that is not appointed and recognized by the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church and will not help them to take In Gratibus charges.

II.3 Other religions will be tolerated as long as they do not endanger the public order or the status of the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church among the faithfuls: the limits are under approval of the Archbishops of the territory, which may grant the presence of one place of cult in any territory - except for the Imperial Capital of Strasbourg and whereas there is a main Cathedral - on condition that he formerly had received an official request by the local leader of the belief, signed for assurance by the town major about the absence of any anti-aristotelian purpose.

II.3.b We should remember, for the sake of completeness, that Spinozism and Averoïsm are the only officially tolerated heresies according to the Canon Law.

II.4. Other heresies, pagan movements, so-called “churches” that are not recognised or are declared heretic by the Holy Aristotelian Roman and Universal Church can be practised only in a private and individual manner. Any public ceremony or preaching (taverns, markets, tales and so on) by these movements shall be considered a heresy.

II.5. If He hasn't one, the Emperor will choose a personal confessor and religious advisor at the beginning of His reign; the confessor could be the Imperial Religious Advisor or another prelate.

PART III

The role of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church in the civil life of the SRING

The SRING recognizes the rules of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church in the field of wedding, baptism, birth, adoption, death, change of name and nobility. In particular:

III.1. the Emperor will not award imperial titles of nobility and will not recognize inheritance of any imperial title of nobility to people who are not baptized, and

III.2. Imperial nobility titles will be revoked for those who have been recognized and condemned by the Church as heretics, apostates, schismatics and enemies of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church

III.3. only the Aristotelian marriage celebrated Res Parendo by a cleric of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church will have legal value in the territories of the Empire for the purposes of family formation and legitimacy of offspring, and the Church only will have the power to declare a marriage dissolved or annulled, according to Canon Law

III.4. only adoptions carried out according to the procedure of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church and recognized by it will have legal value in the territories of the Empire

III.5. the subjects of the Empire will be officially declared dead only after a funeral celebrated by a cleric of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church and transcribed in the roman registers (after the eradication of the soul from the body)

III.6. people impossible to find will not be recognized as deceased

III.7. those who will be called with a different name or who will claim to be the same person after a presumed death can be recognized by the Emperor only if the Church will have them recognized

III.8. in the case of controversial issues in these matters, the Emperor will consult the Religious Imperial Advisor, whose response, in accordance with the prescriptions of Canon Law and the Curia, will be binding

PART IV

Relationship between religious and imperial institutions

IV.1. Members of the Church Diplomacy will be granted diplomatic immunity in the territories of the Empire, during the course of diplomatic missions established by the Church, and the members of the Imperial Diplomacy will be granted of priority to the Holy See and areas reserved for them for diplomatic discussions

IV.2. the Emperor will recognize and adopt the judgments of the Holy Inquisition and Ecclesiastical Courts, and Imperial Tribunals will not pronounce judgment contrary to them; in case of discrepancy will be established a Committee consisting of two religious members and two imperial members, whose final decision will be binding

IV.3.1 the Holy Armies, the Military-Religious Orders, the Episcopal Guards and the ships belonging to clerics will be granted freedom of movement and facilitations in the territories of the Empire (with special passes in case of restrictions or border closures and permission to dock and make repairs in ports) during their escort missions to the clergy and defense of the True Faith against heretics and schismatics

IV.3.2 the Holy Armies, the Military-Religious Orders, the Episcopal Guards and the ships belonging to clerics will support the Emperor with any possible force against heretics.

IV.4. the Imperial Armies will be granted the blessing, freedom of movement and material and military support of the Roman and Universal Aristotelian Church (between the limits of its military organization, that is not for war, but for peace and defense only) in the conduct of missions required and recognized by the Church as inherent to the defense of the True Faith

IV.5. the Military and Chivalry Orders recognized by the Empire will be recognized by the Church if not in conflict with the aristotelian faith and the Canon Law in their statutes, in their organic and actions

IV.6. will be set up in Rome a special permanent room reserved for the Emperor, where He will meet the Cardinals of the Nunciature, the Protonotaries and members of the Curia, to discuss important topics of His choice.

Sealed in the Imperial Palace, in Strasbourg, Friday, the 27th of September, 1461.
